#WebPerf Meetup: Owning Web Performance
Please join Instart Logic and the San Francisco & Silicon Valley Web Performance Group when we host Wesley Hales presenting “Owning Web Performance” in our Palo Alto headquarters on August 18, 2016. Wesley Hales is a Senior Solutions Engineer with Instart Logic, a member of the W3C Web Performance Working Group, and the author of Speedgun.io.
Running a synthetic testing server or script to measure web performance is a great entry point into the world of automated webpage testing. We have an abundance of standardized APIs to measure every part of how the page renders in the browser. PhantomJS 2, released in 2015, gives us the ability to measure navigation timing APIs in an automated fashion.
Wesley Hales will introduce the basics of creating a simple PhantomJS script that extracts needed performance data from the W3C Navigation Timing API, and will explain how this script can be Dockerized and run across many different nodes and regions of the Web. Attendees will get a new view on automated web performance testing and the tools required to set up a simulated RUM network.
Doors open at 6:00pm, with the main event beginning at 6:30pm. Dinner and drinks will be provided. Register to attend! We hope to see you there.
